What to Serve with Potato Soup… If you think the only thing you can serve with potato soup is cheese, bacon, and a side of bread. I’m here to change that perception. Trying one of my side suggestions to kick up your soup to a memorable meal.

Also, for your next party try building a baked potato bar. It’s super easy!

What to Serve with Potato Soup

Potato soup is a comforting and versatile dish that pairs well with various accompaniments, enhancing its flavors and creating a well-rounded meal. To complement the creamy texture and rich taste of potato soup, consider serving it with a side of crusty bread or a warm baguette. The bread’s crunchiness and soft interior offer a delightful contrast to the soup’s smoothness, making it perfect for dipping or sopping up the savory broth. You can also opt for garlic bread, which adds an extra depth of flavor, elevating the overall dining experience.

For a heartier meal, consider incorporating a protein element alongside potato soup. Grilled or roasted chicken, served on the side or shredded and added directly into the soup, offers a satisfying protein boost. Alternatively, a simple mixed green salad with a tangy vinaigrette can complement the soup’s richness with its refreshing and crisp taste. The salad’s fresh vegetables provide a pleasant contrast and balance to the comforting warmth of the soup, creating a well-balanced and fulfilling meal. Additionally, incorporating a vegetable side dish like roasted vegetables or broccoli salad can add nutritional value and diverse textures to the meal while complementing the flavors of the potato soup.

I enjoy serving soup during the colder months to warm my bones and fill my belly! Sandwiches, salads, and sides can turn your bowl of soup into a well-rounded meal while still allowing the homemade soup to be the star of the show.

I have three go-to Potato Soup recipes. Each one is simple to make and taste delectable.

What to Serve with Potato Soup

When choosing your pairings, consider:

  1. Is it going with the soup? Try a crusty sourdough for dipping in chowder. Salads with a light dressing go well with potato soup.
  2. Is it going on the soup? Bacon bits, green onions, and shredded cheese are great options.
  3. Is it going in the soup? Why not add a dollop of sour cream or pesto that gets stirred in? As a bonus, these look beautiful for presenting the soup.

Dill, thyme, rosemary, and tarragon are all great candidates for adding depth and surprise to potato soups. And donโ€™t forget the chives, leeks, and jalapeno peppers. A drizzle of balsamic reduction is an amazing surprise in potato soup.
