Even though itโs cold, I ran across a recipe similar to these scallops and just had to try it.ย I altered it slightly, that recipe called for fish. I found these scallops at Samโs that I wanted to use.ย Serve it with rice unless youโre cutting back on carbs, making it a perfect tangy teriyaki scallops dish.

Tangy Teriyaki Scallops with Pineapple Mango Relish
Youโll find the tropical fresh fruit a light and refreshing accompaniment for the delicate scallops. I used small bay scallops for this recipe, but sea scallops will work, too. Use whatโs available to you or what you prefer. I love bay and sea scallops and usually purchase what is freshest at my grocer.
This recipe has a soft, fleshy texture and delicately mild sweet flavor. This texture and flavor combo makes these tangy teriyaki scallops a favorite!

- 1ย poundย scallops
- 1/2ย cupย thick teriyaki glazeย like Kikkoman
- 1/3ย cupย orange juice
- 2ย Tablespoonย agave syrup
- 2ย teaspoonย canola oil
- 1ย teaspoonย freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4ย teaspoonย fresh ginger
- salt and pepper to taste
For Relish
- 1/2ย cupย pineapple tidbits
- 1/2ย cupย diced fresh mango
- 1/4ย cupย tomatoes
- 1ย Tablespoonย chopped green onions for garnish
- 1ย Tablespoonย jalapeno pepper
- 1ย teaspoonย fresh cilantroย minced

Tangy Teriyaki Scallops with Pineapple Mango Relish
Ingredients
- 1 pound scallops
- 1/2 cup thick teriyaki glaze like Kikkoman
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 2 Tablespoon agave syrup
- 2 teaspoon canola oil
- 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ginger
- salt and pepper to taste
For Relish
- 1/2 cup pineapple tidbits
- 1/2 cup diced fresh mango
- 1/4 cup tomatoes
- 1 Tablespoon chopped green onions for garnish
- 1 Tablespoon jalapeno pepper
- 1 teaspoon fresh cilantro minced
Instructions
- Combine all scallop ingredients and whisk. Chill until needed.
- Pre heat grill or grill pan to high. Pat scallops dry with a paper towel then lightly salt and pepper. Grill 2 to 3 minutes then turn. Grill on second side 2 to 3 additional minutes add teriyaki sauce the last minute. Serve plain or over rice with Pineapple Mango Relish.
For Relish
- Combine all relish ingredients. Cover and refrigerate until needed. Serve over Teriyaki Scallops
