Poppy Seeds Sausage Rolls

Remember me gushing about making my first blog appearance at Sister Schubert’s house in Alabama? Well, I went and had a really fun time. I can’t tell you how wonderfully gracious Sister is. How could this possibly be called ‘work’? It was so much fun!

I love her philosophy:

โ€œItโ€™s not just whatโ€™s on the table, itโ€™s whoโ€™s around it.โ€ -Sister

Poppy Seeds Sausage Rolls is a recipe I made up for game day tailgating a few years back when hubs picked up the wrong item at the store. ‘This buttery spread works great on Ham and Cheese Sliders, why wouldn’t it be good on sausage?

Sister Schubert’s Poppy Seeds Sausage Rolls

I started with Sister Schubert’s Sausage Wrap Rolls. They are her legendary Parker House Style Rolls that’s stuff with a sausage. Pour this savory, buttery spread over pillow soft rolls and I’m telling you, there’s nothing better. And, another bonus, it takes 20 minutes from start to finish!

From the buttery Parker House Style Rolls to sweet Cinnamon Rolls, Sister Schubertโ€™s brings you homemade taste that goes from freezer to table in just minutes.

They’re good hot or cold. I even put mine back in the Sister Schubert wrapper after they’ve cooled and transport them to the game that way or other potluck event.

So easy.

As you know, by the many photos I posted, I was asked to be part of Sister Schubert’s Team at her home to cook a Thanksgiving celebration. Five bloggers shared time with Sister cooking and learning from each other. I made Bread Pudding with Sister using her Cinnamon Rolls. We also had turkey, sweet potato casserole, congealed cranberry salad, butternut squash casserole, and of course her rolls!

It was such a fun time. Sister Schubert is an uber-inspiring lady, starting a successful business as a result of demand at a church food bizarre. She’s positive, kind, and optimistic. Opening her home and her heart, I was inspired by her work ethic and desire to help others.

My Trip!

On our first night at the event, Sister entertained us. We had crepes filled with chicken, cheese, and broccoli and a salad of butter lettuce, grapefruit, and avocados. (Crazy as it seems, this was my favorite. I re-created it Sunday for my lunch. Maybe I’ll post that recipe sometime.)

One of the most memorable things Sister did, and there were many, was to re-create one of each of our desserts. How thoughtful is that? I’ve never had someone serve me one of my desserts!

Isn’t that the cutest display ever?

Inspiration!

Not only did Sister inspire me, but the four other bloggers were phenomenal. Christy (Southern Plate), Tracey (The Kitchen is My Playground), Chris (Celebrations at Home), me, and Sommer (A Spicy Perspective). I work at home every day by myself. It was so nice to talk in person to other bloggers who understand your job. The one thing about blogging is everyone is so helpful and willing to share knowledge and tips. All five of us started our blogs for different reasons, but have grown into our passions. Seeing that motivation inspires me to work harder.

In the end, we all have the same vision, to do what we love and love what we do. After all, when you love your job, it doesn’t really feel like work.

Sister love what she does loves her family and loves to entertain. She created the Holiday Needlequotes microsite this year as a way for you to show your loved ones how much you care. Needlequotes is an online tool allowing you to turn a favorite family quote into a sharable piece of virtual art. Visit Sister Schubert’s Needlequotes to create your memorable quote and use the ‘share’ feature to show your loved ones. Here’s one of the needle quotes I made.
