First things first, let’s talk taste. Picture this: golden-brown, flaky pizza dough wrapped around juicy ground pork sausage and cheddar cheese. The combination of savory sausage and rich cheese creates a flavor explosion in your mouth!

Now, let’s dive into how to make this culinary masterpiece. It’s as easy as 1-2-3! Start by preheating your oven and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. Next, roll out the refrigerated pizza dough onto the baking sheet in a rectangle.

Using pre-made pizza crust makes this Sausage Roll super convenient. I like to stock my pantry with pizza crust and crescent rolls. With these ingredients, I can put a meal together for my family on short notice. I hate being out of an item and I hate having to get fast food when I have quick and easy meals right at my fingertips.

Method

Then, it’s time to work your magic with the filling. Simply spread the cooked and drained ground pork sausage evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. After that, sprinkle generous amounts of grated cheddar cheese on top of the sausage. You can use cheddar, pepper jack or whatever cheese you have on hand for the cheese.

Now, you’ll carefully roll the dough, starting from one of the long sides, until you have a tight, sausage-filled roll.

Once your roll is assembled, pop it in the oven and bake until it’s golden brown and bubbly, about 25-30 minutes. And voila! You’ve just created a masterpiece that will impress even the pickiest eaters.

Lastly, you need sausage for a Sausage Roll. I like a mild breakfast sausage. I prefer the traditional seasoning not a sage or maple sausage for this recipe.

Not only is this quick and easy, it’s very tasty. Crusty on the outside, spicy from the sausage, and creamy with cheese on the inside.

  1. We use mozzarella or Parmesan cheese and don’t forget to use barbecue sauce on the side.

  2. 4 stars
I made the Pecan Pie Bread Pudding and was disappointed in it. Oh it was rich and good just no pecan pie to it, just sweet! Any way we could get some of the gooey part of the pie into this dish? All I had was sugar and nuts. very sweet! I will try the Pecan Cobbler next it looks like it has the gooey part!

  3. My family loved this! I wonder if you could make it into a pizza roll for dinner? I wonder if I added pizza sauce if it would be good? Anyone tried it?

    1. I actually have added pizza sauce and pepperoni and it’s fabulous. I tried to pinch the ends together tighter so the sauce didn’t come out. I’m not a fan of veggies in my pizza, but if you are onions and bell peppers would be good too. I’m glad you liked it.

  4. Sausage roll – a real favourite for morning teas here in NZ – suspect you shouldn't eat them every day though!. Thanks for linking in. Cheers
