Orange Cookie Cups

If you want a quick dessert that’s easy to mix together and bakes quickly, this is the recipe for you!

These orange Cookie Cups may look like muffins, but no no no, they’re cookies smushed in a mini-muffin tin and filledย with icing!

You can absolutely make these into traditional cookies. The fact is, they’re fabulous as cookies. I just needed wanted something a little different so I smushed them into muffin tins. When you bake cookies in a muffin tin, they don’t poof up in the center like the pretty dome-shaped bakery muffins. They kind of stay flat or mine usually have a little dip in the center. I actually like this because it’s great to fill with frosting, jam, whipped cream, or chocolate!

Orange Cookie Cups

I filled these cookies with Orange Cream Cheese Frosting. Can you say ‘drool-worthy‘? The cookie cup is crispy on the outside. It’s tender and buttery on the inside. The smooth cream cheese icing with a hint of orange zest is the perfect topping. There are two bites of bliss and totally worth running extra to burn off.

Orange Cookie Cups

Since these cookie cups are small, they bake quickly and make an easy dessert if you’ve been asked to bring a snack to a luncheon or just want to make a neighbor, teacher or friend smile.

  1. These cookie cups are adorable Paula! Love the orange in the cookies and cream cheese – totally drool-worthy and perfect for a party or potluck ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Orange is good. But I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that these are not cupcakes or muffins. Apparently I am the ONLY one who is struggling. Well bottom line they are delicious and cream cheese frosting is always the bomb.

    1. Well, I used my cookie recipe and instead of making cookies I pressed them in to a muffin pan. Mostly just because I wanted to top them with icing. I like cookie cups. They have the texture and consistency of a cookie, thick and dense, not fluffy and puffy like a cake.

    2. My market sells brownies that are like these cups and are delicious! I just press the middle in a bit more and fill with chocolate or coconut mousse (whip your favorite box of instant pudding with 2 cups heavy cream…can even use sugar-free). Sprinkle with a little toasted coconut or chocolate shavings and with little work…voila…great little pop-treats!

      1. Oh, yeah, Brownie cups are the bomb, Carmel! I haven’t had that filling though, it sound fabulous.

      2. Amazing what you can do with a cup! What’s nice is that, for a party, you can make different flavor cups and fillings. Look so pretty and no need for cake plates! Pick, pop and pleasure!

  3. Paula, this is definitely a perfect little treat and I’m all about citrus flavors! So many times I have to take something to work for a pot-luck or shower and these will be perfect. I just have to hope too many don’t get eaten before they get out the door! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for sharing and pinning – have a great Tuesday!

    1. Thanks Cindy, you can’t eat just one, better make a double batch for that social ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for sharing!

  4. Paula,
Thanks so much for responding so quickly! Getting ingredients and making for a dear friend’s birthday this weekend. She loves orange flavored anything. May add a little Grand Marnier to the cream cheese for a few of cups. I like the bite-size desserts because they are so easy to handle and you can’t get into too much trouble by having a huge piece of cake.
Your recipes are just delicious! Keep up the wonderful work.
    Thanks again!

  5. Did I miss the Orange Cream Cheese Frosting recipe somewhere? Thanks! Can’t wait to try once I get the frosting recipe.
