Meet Lucy My Basset

My Bassett, Lucy, is two years old, but I’ve only had her for ten months. She went through a couple of owners before we found each other. (Personal issues came up, and they couldn’t keep her.) She’s a joy! I’m so thankful we found each other!

Meet Lucy, a Basset Hound with a leash, sitting in the passenger seat of a car. She gazes to the side with her mouth open, ready for another adventure.

Sleeping is her favorite hobby.

Meet Lucy

Oh, and she likes to watch me work! I feel eyes on me and look over and see this! 👀

A dog peeks over a gray couch cushion in a living room. There's a round table with a lamp and decorative items in the background.

I know this is a deviation from my typical recipe post, but I wanted to share a glimpse into my home life and Lucy brings me so much joy. You may remember her from the photos in my post: Is a Basset Hound a Good Fit for a Family?

She also enjoys playing tennis. 😉

Those ears feel like velvet!

The black collar in the photo above and below is a dog training collar. Yes, it will shock, but I’ve never shocked her. (That sounds terrifying!) I got it because I couldn’t keep up with her when I was outside. She’d run off, and it’d take me a while to find her. After she almost ran onto a busy street following a runner, I invested in it. I only have to make it beep now, and she comes back.

Lucy loves to ride in the car. You should see the ears flop in the wind! 😂

The other item I got was this car seat cover. Bassets have long nails and shed a lot. The cover saves my seat and car and my sanity!

Then, another nap.

She brings me a lot of joy and laughs!

You can see the training collar in the above photo. It’s the black one. Below are some of my favorite products for Lucy.
