Limoncello Mojito Cocktail is a light, lemony, refreshing, and delicious drink recipe that has plenty of mint!
Mojitos make me think of spring and early summer. Although it’s late summer, I wanted to share my Limoncello Mojito Cocktail recipe since I finally got around to making it.
The basics of traditional mojitos are rum and mint. In fact, a classic mojito has rum, mint leaves, limes, sugar, and soda water.
Limoncello is an Italian lemon liqueur mainly produced in Southern Italy, especially in the region around the Gulf of Naples, the Sorrentine Peninsula and the coast of Amalfi, and islands of Procida, Ischia, and Capri.
LIMONCELLO MOJITO COCKTAIL
You’ll make this Limoncello Mojito basically the same as a traditional mojito. You’ll put the lime wedges, mint leaves, and sugar into a tall glass or cocktail shaker and muddle it. Muddling is a technique that gently mashes herbs or fruit to release their juices. Muddling helps extract the flavors to blend with the alcohol better than simply using them whole or sliced.
I recommend using an actual muddler to do the job. It has little spikes on the bottom that helps you smush the juice from the limes. Don’t crush the lime and mint too much when youโre muddling it or you’ll release the bitter flavors as well as the juice. You want to press just enough to release the juice from the lime.
I like this muddler because it’s pretty and it’s made in just one piece which makes it easier to clean. And, it comes with a nifty stirrer spoon.
