The photo on the left below was frosting just after making the frosting and refrigerated immediately. You can see the peaks and ripples are showing. The muffin/cupcake on the right, I dolloped a spoonful of frosting on after the frosting sat in the refrigerator overnight. I stirred the frosting and plopped a spoonful of frosting on the top (because I couldn’t find my decorator tips.) Both were almost identical.
Different angles make it look like the frosting on the left is taller, but they’re almost identical.
