French Onion Meatball Sliders Cooking Tips

  • Use freshly ground meat for the juiciest meatballs. Mixing the ingredients gently will keep them tender. Overmixing can make them dense.
  • Toast the rolls lightly before assembling for a slight crunch and better structure. Spread a little softened butter on the tops before baking for added flavor.
  • When caramelizing onions, keep the heat low and stir often to prevent burning. A splash of beef broth or water can deglaze the pan if needed.

French Onion Meatball Sliders FAQ

Can I make these ahead?

Yes, you can prep the meatballs and caramelized onions in advance. Store them separately in the fridge, then assemble and bake when ready to serve.

What cheese works best?

Swiss or Gruyere is ideal because it melts easily and complements the onions. Other melty cheeses like provolone or mozzarella could work, too.

How do I store leftovers?

Keep sliders in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat them in the oven at a low temperature to keep the bread from getting soggy.
