Has anyone tried it with lemon cake mix
Can I use chocolate cake mix? Thank you!
Yes
I have not tried it, but it should work just fine!
How well does this keep in the fridge after its made? Does it freeze well?
You can freeze it for up to 8 weeks. I keeps great in the fridge for 2 to 3 days.
Is the cake mix the just add water type or the add water, oil and eggs type? Or will either work?
It’s the water/oil/egg kind. I haven’t tried the other.
How much is 5 cups strawberries? Would a 32 oz. container of fresh strawberries be enough?
Is fruit juice an acceptable substitute for butter or margarine in fruit dump cakes?
A lot of time you can substitute apple sauce or pumpkin puree for part of the butter (or oil) when it’s mixed in a recipe. However, on dump cakes/cobblers like this it needs the fat to mix with the cake mix and brown. It will be soggy and not brown on top with fruit juice.
Do I thaw and drained the frozen berries first?
Don’t drain them. I put my berries in frozen. You can do either
Really simple and yummy!
