The Classic Mojito Recipe is a traditional cocktail with lime and mint. Refreshing with a hint of sweet!
If you are looking for a cool, summer drink take a look at this recipe. It is super easy to make and so refreshing.
Mojito is a cocktail that often consists of five ingredients: white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water, and mint. Its combination of sweetness, citrus, and mint flavors is intended to complement the rum and has made the mojito a popular summer drink.
After posting all the Mojito recipes this Summer, I realized I didn’t have a recipe for a Traditional Mojito. Before my mint is gone, I wanted to share with you and more importantly, I wanted to drink one! I must not lie about it!! ๐
CLASSIC MOJITO RECIPE
Cuba is the birthplace of the Mojito, but the date isn’t exactly clear. It was a favorite libation of Ernest Hemingway. Traditionally, the mojito is made up of five basic ingredients:
- White rum
- Sugar
- Lime juice
- Sparkling water
- Mint
I hope you enjoy my version, I like to call it the “I’ll have two please!” Mojito because you sure can’t have just one!!
As well, if you want a Mojito Martini, make this with vodka instead of rum and serve without ice in a martini glass!
MINT
You can easily grow mint in your garden, window sill, or balcony. Mint is very easy to care for and takes watery every other day during the summer to keep it alive.
I bought one small plant and put it on my front porch. It’s now spread to the ground and makes a beautiful ground cover. It has even lived through two winters. (Although where I live we don’t have real cold winters.)
